Information On Pile Driver Sales

By Kevin Cooper

Pile drivers are mechanical equipment used for driving piles deep underground. Piles are foundations which can be made from steel, timber poles or concrete and are used to provide strength to buildings on unstable soil. For piles to offer stability, they have to be driven into the soil deep until it reaches the bedrock. Here is information regarding pile driver sales.

The devices were invented during the industrial revolution. The revolution was marked by various things including mechanization, discovering of new construction methods and new construction materials. Mechanically sound drawing a pile driver appeared at around fourteen seventy-five. After that came the steam drivers which became so popular and spread throughout the world. Though it is not clear as to which person invented it but some believe that it was invented by Loch Tay in Scotland.

Pile drivers exist in many different types. Those used in ancient eras were to heavy that they were operated using animals. They consisted of huge pulleys that dropped heavy weights on one end of piles. The piles would in turn be driven underground. In modern times, various methods have been invented for lifting the weights and guiding piles.

Some of the methods used include diesel hammer. Drivers that use this method are made of huge two-stroke engines fuelled by diesel. The piston makes the weight in this case and it is connected to the top cylinder. The top cylinder is placed to the top of pile. Auxiliary means are used to raise the weight at the beginning of driving cycle.

This is normally a cable running from the crane holding the driver. The driver will draw air into the cylinder and the diesel fuel gets injected into cylinder. The weight is then dropped on top of a pile using quick release. The weight of the piston compresses the mixture of air and fuel heating it to the ignition point of diesel fuel.

The power generated by the falling weight is transferred to the head of the pile as the mixture burns driving the head underground. This process is repeated until the piles are driven completely in the underground. For manual drivers the piston is raised until the trip releases piston automatically allowing it fall by gravity. The falling of the piston triggers the fuel pump making it release a metered quantity fuel pump.

The activation of pump gets a metered amount of fuel discharged into the ball pan of impact block. Exhaust ports are blocked by the falling piston, leading to the start of compression of trapped fuel in the cylinders. Compressed air exerts pre-load force that holds the impact block strongly against the piles and drive caps.

The impact block is then strike by the piston atomizing the fuel setting the piles in a downward motion. When the piston is strike it burns the fuel causing an explosion that applies a greater force on the piles which is already in motion making it move in the ground even further.
