What Are Types Of Commercial Driver Licenses

By Amy Stewart

It is true that driving is one of the occupations which has several workforce all over the world. That is normal because people could not go to places without them. In addition, carrying heavy stuff and things would be really hard without hiring a driver who would help when it comes to that kind of situations. Right now, there have been so many models of vehicles available, it can range from the smallest ones with two to three wheels up until the really huge and heavy ones with many wheels beneath. When it comes to controlling and driving of such huge vehicles, people needs to be aware that it needs a different kind of license to have the right of doing so. And, to possibly gain that, CDL driver training may be of huge help as the first stepping stone.

Often times, it becomes a misconception that having a drivers license would then mean being able to manipulate any type of cars there is. However, it is clearly stated on the law that commercial vehicle drivers needs to get their commercial licenses. They have their own trainings about it because it is so obvious that those trucks they are working on are much complicated than the usual ones plus it also is quite dangerous.

There are three classifications of licenses meant for them. These classifications would define what are thy type of trucks they could drive and some description of their scopes as a driver. There are also different requirements so they may possibly get one of those and to make sure that those who are in plan to go get one knows the difference, it will be explained below.

The first one among the bunch is class A CDL. This license serves as passport for drivers to operate trucks which has a combination mass of over twenty six thousand pound. Additionally, this includes the weight of another vehicle it can tow which possesses over ten thousand pounds scale. Few samples of trucks this class could operate are double trailers, tanker vehicles, tractor trailers and more.

In addition to that, owners of such license type is pretty much suitable to drive the vehicles under the other two. However, that can only be possible when they got the endorsement that they need which would tell them it is okay to do so. But, the fact that they will not need to get the rest of licenses types is something that makes this class really efficient compared to the rest of the gang.

Class B CDL are only allowed to operate those which has single vehicle with a twenty six thousand and one pounds or even heavier. Some of the vehicles they may be appropriate to operate includes box trucks, couriers and furniture delivery. They may as well be able to drive those class c trucks so long as they posses appropriate endorsements.

The last one is class c wherein it supports those cars that and truck that do not have or have never met the requirement of those two license types. Means of transportation that can support and have at least sixteen passenger which includes the driver may need this too. And last but not the least, those drivers that are delivering hazardous materials could also get this license.

This license type can support those driving of passenger vans. Unlike the others, this one is only limited to its own vehicle list. There would be no endorsement that would allow this to operate trucks meant for different license class.

For the endorsement needs, there are codes drivers may need so they would have it. They would as well need to undergo some tests that would prove their suitability. And to gain more information regarding this endorsements, reviewing the federal guidelines about it would be of help.
